A very special game at the Family Day Tournament

The EMFC U16G Spitfire kicked off against the Blizzard Heat, in the Gold Medal Match.

The two teams, though both fierce competitors, have become friends over the season. They have come to know and respect each other. The teams took turns cheering each other on from the stands over the weekend.

They both finished first in their groups, and faced each other in the Gold Medal Match!

The game was fast and physical and a joy to watch. EMFC Spitfire won the match by a single goal.

After the game, the players from each team presented one another with their medals in a display of respect and grace that fully represented our sport at it finest, and reminded all of us present what this game is really all about.

Watching the behaviour of the young ladies from these two teams this weekend was moving, and humbling. 

Good on all of you, Blizzard Heat and EMFC Spitfire. Well played, both on and off the field!
